divergent validity

— Divergent validity looks at the relationship of a measure with other measures that are not theoretically closely linked to the measure of interest.

Divergent validity is a type of construct validity. Divergent validity establishes if a measure of a construct is distinct from other constructs. If a measure correlates weakly with a theoretically unrelated concept, it has demonstrated divergent validity.
